I am looking for a job during the new school year, and bicycling sounds perfect for me. I go to a school where I can make my own schedule, and can carve out the greater portion of 2-3 days a week for a job. Before I start seriously searching I was wondering if this would be plausible at all, if any messenger services would have minor work permits (or would overlook my youth), if part-time messengering is out there, or if the market is overflowing with applicants ect.

Thanks for the help.

Go for it, man.
I just kick myself thinking of all the burger king hours I wasted and how cool I would have felt leaving every day to messenger instead of wrap Whoppers. And you know, it'll help your confidence so much.
Most messenger services don't really hire you. You'd be an "independent contractor," so I don't think the age thing would matter.
A lot of messengers are "part time." It's just kinda hard to make any money without being on call all day. Some companies I've heard about don't even report who's working for them, so it wouldn't matter.
There's a fair amount of applicants, yeah, but turn over is high I hear. There's an old saying: if you want a job messengering, wait till it rains (and that's probably tomorrow where you live) and show up ready to work. There's usually a job for you.

If bike messengers are regulated like other delivary services, you need to be 18.
