haro seems to be the sweet underdog in moutainbiking .i have never seen one in person but they seem to be great bikes and some people here really like them .i really like their escape series.

What? Only 1 reply so far?
Listen Man,
HARO bikes are maybe a little less know than Santa Cruz, but believe me, they're every bit as good if not better. Bike companies spend alot of $$$ on advertising, thus increasing their selling dollar. HARO seems to build a great, strong bike and yet don't increase their selling costs just because of advertising....

I bought one, why don't you?

Like the previous post, I too currently ride a Xtreme X2.
They are like the full suspension version of the Escape I suppose....
Mine weighs in @ about 34lbs. but I still manage to "Granny" gear up some of the steeper accents in my area....
The pic on the right is with my '04 Z-150 SL fork installed....

5 of my friends ride haro x series bikes. They are solid bikes for the money and can handle pretty much whatever you are willing to do. i highly recomned them for someone looking for a cheaper FS bike.

The frame is ok and will work depending on the size of the drops or jumps you hit. The parts spec...well...kinda sucks. If you ride hard you will be replacing just about everything on it very shortly. Stick with a good ht for 800$, will work much better.

I was looking at the specialized rockhopper compr disc,...........could that handle the drops and stuff?

The Rockhopper is a bit more XC oriented. The Hardrock however, is pretty universally recommended here as a do-everything bike in this price range.

I have never riddena HARO trail bike but when I rode my friends Escape 8.1 I personally didn't like it. It felt cheap to me, and at a price of 650, it certainly didn't feel like it was worth that much. It came with decent components mostly but the frame and fork sucked in my opinion.

I ride an Australian spec V3, lx RD, Zac19 rims, tektro disks ect.... I'm pretty happy with it for what it is. But....I had to replace seat, handlebars and head stem right away before It was ok for me. I really like the frame, its strong and steers fast without becoming unstable. The fork however is low end. So far though the bike has been unburstable.

The fork on the x1 is not that great. If you can replace it with a Rockshock or something else you will like it better. My buddy has a Escape 8.1 and he just craked the frame last weekend after a 5 mile ride (trail was not that hard) I guess bad luck.

no its about 6 feet tall but where you land it makes the total height 9 feet 4 inches, we measured with a tape measure.

Looks around 10 ft to me. If you measure to landing. First time I have seen a vid thats at least close to proper for the height.
