Bicycle Mechanics - Found the Noise

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I have finally located and killed a noise from my new bike that has eluded me for 6 months! Woohoo! A noise kinda like a chain hitting a derailleur was generated when I stomped on the left pedal (as in going up a hill out of the saddle), but never while the bike was in the trainer. Anyway, the noise was not coming from the chain or derailleur but from the blade spokes in the back wheel rubbing when the wheel flexed under stress. A bit of chain lube on each point where the spokes crossed fixed the problem. Yea, I know that somebody has already posted this info many times, but that does not diminish my joy of independant discovery. :D

Interesting. Self diagnosing noises/sounds on a bike are always a challenge. I currently have a slight rubbing sound that is intermittant from the rear, and I can't figure it out.
I know it ain't the brake, since I disengaged it and can sometimes hear it...
Sux to be me.
