View Full Version : Where's my SC Heckler?

Man, what gives on getting a Heckler? I ordered (my LBS actually ordered) a Black Ano Heckler back on 5-4 and my LBS just notified me it would be the 2nd week of June before it would be available! After much research I thought it would be the best bike for me but another months wait is gonna' kill me. Especially w/ all the Id's and Moto's sitting in shops waiting to be built/ridden. This reminds me of my first Harley back in '92 when I had to wait 5 months.

Is this common w/ SC or is it just the beginning of the '05 model year? I love my dealer so I'm waiting it out and hoping for a possible early delivery!!! Wish me luck.

Yepers:D It is common for SC to get their bikes out slow. A few buddies of mine are good friends with the guys at SC and even they have to wait along time for their bikes. Especially for the new models. One guy waited 3 months befor his arrived. They do make a very nice bike but they get backed up quickly.

Thanks DBD, its good to know that its not just me. I got a chance to ride a bud's Kona Dawg and was really impressed w/ the FS (coming from a rigid myself). My LBS carries Kona also and I had a real debate w/ myself about the Dawg Primo or the Heckler spec'd similarly and hope I made the right decision. Right now it seems I didn't as I could be on a "cush" ride and not waiting! Oh well some things are worth waiting for so we'll see. Patience...yeah that's it patience....

Oh yeah, is that a sweet looking Gibson SG (or a bass)in you pic w/ your "future musician"?

SC is out of a lot of models in a lot of sizes currently.

Looks like a bass to me, the necks pretty thick...or maybe princess is just really small :D

Anyway, I say keep the Heckler. It may be a long wait, but unless you get a SC from a shop that has one in stock, you'll end up waiting no matter what. Its a very sweet and capable bike though.

It's a Hamer Velocity2 bass. The little one loves playing, she actually does and corectly. She also plays the drums and can keep a steady beat at 2yrs old. Our neighbor has a studio in his place and she goes ovcer there and jams with them, it is way funny but if she wants to play I am not going to discurage her :D

p.s. Although mom does not like our choice of music ;)

you might have ordered a color that they didn't happen to have in stock, and because they ship their bikes overseas for painting, they can take a very long time to ship.

I didn't know they out-sourced their painting. Its Black Anodized so there's no telling where its being shipped too! Supposed to be a pretty tough finish so we'll see as my "pops" always said I could break a Sherman Tank, a bull in a china shop kinda' guy.

They don't ship their bikes overseas, they are manufactured overseas.

Waldo,
Any idea what country?

Waldo

Taiwan.

Hey, that's pretty ironic. My current MB0 was made in Taiwan way back in 1990-91. All the rest of the Bridgestone MB's were lugged frames and made in another country but the Zips were "tig welded in Taiwan". I'd prefer a good ol' made in the USA frame but let's hope this one holds up as well as my current one! No complaints so far.

At last the wait is over! I got my Heckler about a week ago and have had the time to get to one good trail ride. The inaugural ride was the Left Loop at Tsali. All I can say is WOW!!! What a great bike and what a great trail to break it in! Its FS and disk brakes saved my butt in more than one instance as this was my 1st time at Tsali and I got a "little" excited on some downhills...had to do some serious panic braking. Couldn't be happier w/ my choice to wait on the Heckler.

How dare you!!!! Do you not know the first rule of the mtb section and new bikes? Where are the pics man, where? :p

Glad to here you are happy with the bike. Sounds like it has given you a bit more confidence also.

Yeh - show us some skin, I mean bike!

I've just made the Heckler decision myself, so I need to see some more pics while I wait for mine...

Post some pics! Just ordered an XL Ano Black Heckler but the shop called me yesterday and told me that the soonest any XL Anodized bikes would be available would be 8+ weeks. That equates to about 3.5 years in SC time! So I went with a Trans Blue one which went out to paint today!

I too need some pics to help ease the wait!

I'm getting a grey one as they were out of white like I wanted at first. I also didn't want to take any chances with their delivery times. It's pretty bad, actually. By being known as horribly poor at shipping in time, we just bend over and accept it and buy another color. They win. :(

Did either one of you go for the Maverick DUC32 fork? I was so into the Fox 32RC fork, but I changed my mind and went with the DUC in the end :p.

I like ducks, after all. Makes perfect sense, right? :o

Sorry guys, I'm kinda' new to the whole digital cam thing but I'll try to get some posted very soon (like tomorrow if I can figure it out!). Trumbull, mine is a large blk ano and its a really cool finish. It's set up w/ a Fox F130 RLC and a 5th Element Coil-over. I did get a chance to check out a demo w/ the Maverick DUC but my limited experience on a FS bike was with a Fox 130 on the front and I really liked it. The guy at the shop that had the DUC on his demo really loved it and spoke very highly of Maverick in general. I don't think you could go wrong w/ that fork.

Trasselkalle, I just wanted to edit this and say that yes, SC's shipping/availability may stink but you're the real WINNER when you get whatever color 'cause its a GREAT ride!!! Hang in there bro'.

I'll get some pics as soon as I can.

Hehe. Sounds good about the fork. What I found on it was all positive, so I'm really looking forward to getting it. You're also right that we really are the winners. I just hate it when they give you all these color choices that you can't have unless you wait forever. I always want what I can't have! :o

Looking forward to the pics :).

Alright, bear with me as I've just taken a couple more pics and I'll see if I can attach them....

Ooopps....tried the "Manage attachments " under additional options and it said my file was too large at 1.03 MB, limits me to 100KB. Is there any way to change something to make the pic post or do I need to try to get some lower res pics? Sorry guys for all my dumb questions but I'm really trying to get you guys some pics of the new ride!

photobucket.com will automatically resize them for you, then use the IMG tags to link them here.

Below the picture in your album there should be an address surrounded by tags that say IMG and /IMG. Cut and paste that into your post. Image will be hosted at photobucket, you are just providing a link to there from here.
