hi, i am about to buy my first touring bike, have decided on a dawes galaxy, will there be any need to change the gearing on this, i am planning a trip through the rockie mountains in bc canada so will be going up some really steep hills, anyone toured the rockies on a galaxy? how did u get on with the standard gearing? any advice about gearing in general, i have very limited knowledge of gearing so please keep it simple.

It is helpful to post a link

The Deore MTB transmission is ideal for loaded touring in mountanous terrain. The bike ready to use as-is.

The one part that needs attention with any Dawes bike are the wheels. Ask your dealer if he tunes the spoke tension. My local Dawes dealer spends about 3 hrs on checking the final asembly of the bike and makes the bike a lot stronger and more reliable.
