I want to try disc brakes but I don't want to brake the bank. I have a Cannondale F500 from 1996. I want to know how to install the brakes myself? Anyone knows where can I get a guide or something that I can go by?
Thanks!!!!

this is not a cheap/ easy conversion
the first question is does the frame and forks have disk brake mounting points?
if they dont then it will defiinitely be cheaper just to buy a new bike with disc brakes.
If they do then you (just) need to buy a set of disk brakes and some disc compatible hubs. You may also need new brake levers . If your brakes are combined with your shifters then of course you will need new shifters as well. It could still get very pricey.

Thanks for your advice. I'll waive all my options and hopefully come up with what's best for my situation. Take care…

If you would like to try discs, ask your LBS if you can try a demo bike with discs.
