I'm probably gonna catch it for this, but how does Lance do it? I'm not a doctor, and I've never seen a discussion anywhere... after his cancer, he's sterile, had one 'nad surgically removed, and I gotta think the other probably was damaged by the cancer and treatments as well. So, his testosterone must come from a bottle. Which implies he can take as much as he wants as long as blood levels don't exceed test limits. I guess there's no reason to believe any cyclist couldn't (illegally) do the same, except also having a less predictable natural source, it would be difficult to regulate.

This is not intended to take anything away from LA's ability, effort, or genetics, all of which are off the scale. It just strikes me as a salient point, that I've never seen discussed anywhere. Can anybody shed any light?

Interesting point, but testosterone can actually encourage cancers that are already started. I know for a fact that many men who have had radical treatment for prostate cancer have to use testosterone inhibitors for a couple of years after treatment. Similarly, some women who have been treated for breast cancer have to inhibit estrogen for a couple of years after treatment. I don't know if that holds true for testicular cancer. Of course, Lance has gone well beyond the two years, but I doubt if he would play with testosterone even now. Seems that that would be a risk for him.

Roadbuzz,

I believe that the chemo caused Lance to stop producing
sperm, not testosterone.
I'm not an endocrinologist but I imagine the body compensates
for the loss of 1 testicle when producing testosterone.
