WIthout compromise, what is the best chain lube? I say tri flow, wax sucksI've tried a couple of different wax based lubes including melting paraffin wax and dipping the chain in it. Didn't care for them. This year I started using Boeshield-T9 but haven't really given it a good enough test as it's mostly been used on the bike in my trainer. By the end of Summer I'll know if I'm going to continue using it or not. So far so good though. I know ProLink has a good reputation for a dry lube. It supposedly bonds to the metal making for a slicker surface. I've never used it though.

On one bike I use 3in1 which is basically a light weight machine oil or sewing machine oil. I like it as well as any of the petrolium based lubes I've tried and it's not expensive. I've also used Shimano's Slippery Spitt Wet Lube (http://www.nashbar.com/profile.cfm?category=103&subcategory=1121&brand=&sku=9539&storetype=&estoreid=&pagename=) and it seems to have the viscosity of a light weight gear oil. It collects grime more quicly than 3in1 as does motor oil or any heavy lubes.

Unfortunately there is no such thing as a single best lube. It depends on the application, i.e. wet, dry, sandy conditions and a rider's policy on cleaning and maintenance.

well, my Dom won't lube the chains, she claims that the chafing and burning from them twisting on my wrists and ankles are part of the punishment...... erm, oh! that type of chain lube

Anyone use White Lighting? i was pretty impressed with it the last time i used it, which was a while back. It goes on as a liquid, and dries to a sort of soft but non-sticky wax.

It seemed to lube the chain well while actually keeping it clean.

I guess it's probably just made of wax, solvent, and oil, but hey, it works.

I like Boesheild it works well in our wet climate here and does not attract grime
