General Cycling Discussion - DG bites the big one

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I've ridden this trail many, many times, but somehow this creek bank became severly eroded in the last two weeks. I was already committed and didn't have any choice in the matter. So I get way back behind the saddle, ( which I found only makes the aerial distance greater), and over I go.
With a half-pipe-triple-gainer-endo into a human yard-dart. :)

Ouch! I'll give you a 10 for the picture... not sure about the crash. Did the bike (and yourself) come out of the crash OK?
Do you remember this thread? http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php?s=&threadid=5614

I'd say your big problem seems to be that you came out of it with three legs (no points for "that's what she said" jokes.)

WHOA!! Something about the picture gives a vivid mental image. I have the utmost respect for your ability to come forward with your info.
On a point scale you get a 10 if it were not for the difficulty of the aerial acrobatics you overall score would have suffered.
I'll have to give it a 9.5 It took me a second to realize that he didn't have three legs after he came out of that one!!!
By the looks of that drawing, I would say that DG broke his fingers and now draws with a pencil clenched in his mouth.

Hope your bike doesn't creak too much now ...
DG,
Did you crash through the Mississipi? (Now I know that's gotta be spelt wrong!)

I want to crash like that so I can grow a third leg too.
That sounds like it really sucked. Hope things work out.

Yeeeow! That's gotta hurt!
I hope you're okay -- not too much bleeding and bruising. Will this require time off the bike? Did your wife look at you with that "I told you so" expression?"
Most importantly [and I'll ask the question all cyclists ask of a crash survivor]: how's your bike?

9.3
It would have been a 9.8, but we had to take a mandatory .5 deduction for the dismount.
Uhm I have to give it a 9.6
its got a catchy tune you can dance to.
whoa, that had to hurt.

I don't think that's DG in the picture. The body is all brown and there's no shorts or jersey.
Monkeys are brown and have a long tail (3rd leg in picture).
Maybe DG has a trained monkey. :D
10 points for the trained monkey!
How did you teach a monkey to ride?
Seriously, hope you and the bike are ok. Got any photos of yourself and/or the bike? I'm sure the rocks HURT quite a bit. Makes me hurt all over just thinking about it.

Dang! Oooooh, MAMA!
Good thing those ROCKS were there to break your fall!
(Hope you're ok--if you fell on your head, I guess you'll be alright!)
:crash:
Geez, the concern you all express is just TOUCHING....
really DG, as long as you didn't break any limbs and can continue to enjoy your summer that's all that matters. However, I would suggest you try getting a job as an animator for SOUTH PARK should your current day job not work out.

Except for my right foot, ankle, calf, knee, hip, tricep, shoulder and a slight headache for two days, I'm fine! :)
I don't think anything is broken, but man am I sore. Nothing like being body-slammed to a bunch of rocks.
The bike seems to be OK too. Luckily I was there to break it's fall.
The pic has what looks like a third leg because for some reason unbeknownst to me, I drew pants on the guy. Probably a result of dain bramage from my head bouncing on the rocks.
Thank God again for helmets. The only thing I really remember is my head bouncing once.
Thanks for all the concern and comments, I think I'll live. Gonna try to ride my cross bike today and see how it goes. Not up to MTB'ing yet though.
