hey guys ... i know just enough to be dangerous.

a few years ago i completed one of the multi-state tours fundraiser rides. fortunately i had no major mechanical problems, so i still have lots to learn -- i still have yet to change a tire!

im on a gary fisher zebrano and love it. i kept being told that i needed to be on a lighter bike but i certainly couldnt afford that! besides, this bike is really all i know..who says this bike is "heavy"? :) id been off the bike for about a year as my old job was over an hour away (driving) and left me little time to ride in off hours. im now at a job much more local and affords me to ride to work and some daylight. back in the saddle baby!

working on getting husband more interested in riding... gotta get him a bike first though

Bienvenue! Changing a tire is not difficult, and sure beats having to call a taxi when you get a flat.

yeah.. i know the "book" way to do it -- ive jsut never done it mechanically. im thinking of being brave and just deflating it and just doing it to make sure i can...

but im not sure yet ;)

thanks! i dont think it will take TOO much working on him. i think hed be up for it, we are just cost conscious right now since he recently was furloughed from his job. he thinks the money could be better spent on, say, bills.

what fun is THAT??? :)

Before I was allowed to drive on my own, I had to drive 1000 miles with my Dad and change a tire by myself four times. I suggest a similar route with bikes. Better to learn at home than out in a rainstorm. Some bike shops have basic bike maintenance classes, so you might want to look into that, too.
