Bicycle Mechanics - diffrent style brakes for mt. bike can i change one style from one bike to the other

i got 2 bikes one that got wrecked has awesome brakin system other i cant even hurt but has crappy brakes so im wonderin if i can change them over sorry i dont know brake type one is a lever sorta thing that when it pulls another turns and pushes the pad into the rim the other is diffrent if i find pics ill show ya

i believe those are the brakes on the bike with strong brakes

This lever has more leverage, the other lever for the centerpull will feel mushy.
The way the brakes 'fit' to the frame on the cantilever bosses will be the same.

The cable stop for the rear brake is often a problem when you do a linear brake conversion.

The V-Brakes will fit on the posts with no problem. You will probably have to swap out the levers as well, as the old Canti levers don't pull enough cable.

You may have to make different arrangements for the brake cable for the rear, depending on how it's routed.

(If nothing else, you can just run a full-length casing back to the "noodle", and secure it with cable-ties or whatever.)
