Now that I worked through my foot numbness, I am moving to another question.

What is the advantage of cycling shorts?
I know nothing about them, but most people I see riding around here have them. Can someone explain what they do for riding, and being 313 pounds, with a 48 inch waistline, would cycling pants be worth it for me.
Lastly where could I find them at a reasonable price if I would benefit from them?

They are made of a fabric that allows the perspiration to evaporate faster. I even wear mine to mow the grass in the heat of summer for that reason. The lack of seams and the extra paddling make for a much more comfortable ride on the bike. If you buy black you can wipe your greasy hands on them and it won't show. You should be able to find a pair in your size. I am a hard size to fit and I usually go the the local LBS and try things on and they'll order stuff for me to try.
