I'm on the verge of replacing my chain, and am looking for suggestions for a new 1/8". I'm strictly a street rider, (no veledrome action), so durability is key.

ditto. lose the master link, tho. Sometimes performance has them for 7$ or so on sale... can't beat that.

why? have you had one fail?

bikeophile,
aren't those miche chains noisey as heck? seems like a few folks around here have complained about them for noise.

I did... could have been for any number of reasons, but I don't trust them anymore.

Miche chains can be a little noisy if they aren't lubed regularly. But they aren't that bad. They are our MID RANGE chain.

We also have Taya Chains (which I forgot about).

We have the ECONO 1/8" which we charge $6.50 CAD for.
We also have a 1/8" BMX racing chain, which is a heavy duty strong chain. Well see these for $9.50 CAD

On my personal Bike I ride with a Wipperman ANti Rust Track Chain..Super nice, super quiet...but pricier...(has an antirust coating on it)

I have 2 miche chains which are totally silent. I had one of the masterlinks explode though, and a couple links get bent one time...

Anyways, they are cheap and good. They don't look special though

yeah i have had nothing but good luck with Wipperman chains...They do make a good range of chains now too. I haven't ordered their lower end ones in yet, but I am thinking that I will start carrying only wippermans...

They have the Nickel plated track chain for $24, the steel grey chain for $14, the Anti-Rust chain for $27 and the beefy BMX chain (also nickel plated) for $72..

The BMX chain is SOOOO nice...a little overkill really..but looks awesome and is soo beefy! When I have nothing better to add to my bike...perhaps I will throw one of those on it :)

I love Izumi chains. Good ones start around 20 bucks and up and they seem to last a fair amount of time. Also like HKK Vertex chains as well, but now you're really paying good money.

However I figure if I'm going to put my life in the hands of my drivetrain then a little extra cash is well worth it.

Sadly, I've realised that I'm a sucker for anything thats NJS.

I just got that midrange Izumi NJS cert. model. I think it's called the ESH. It's been treating me pretty well so far and it looks super hot on my bike.

KMC Kool chain....

it's cool but with a K, do i really have to say more? OK it is big and beefier than any chain i have ever seen as well.

it could kill a PC-1 by sitting on it for sure...

I use a KMC 410H, it's held up fine for a while and costs $7-8 IIRC. Beefy, too.

I wouldn't hesitate in trying the other KMC chains mentioned, either.

I agree with Ryan, the KMC 410 or 510 are beefy and bushingless, which means quieter. The are cheap, too. I like 'em WAY better than those crap $20 economy izumi chains that folks try to pass off as NJS certified.I treid one and it rusted quickly and sounds like heck. The guy at Business Cycles puts those into perspective nicley, I think

That's my personal choice, too. Strong, not too pricey, not ugly. It also comes in 3/32" now, too.

And if they're good enough for the guy with more brooks saddles than the entire UK, they're good enough for me.
