I'll hopefully be able to see it tonight.
People packed theatres last night when it opened at midnight. Word has it that it is a very dark movie with a much different tone than the first one.

So is this the last one they'll ever make?
Who would want to see a movie in the middle of the night, anyway... I saw LOTR at 10 PM but only because that's the only time that was left.

Just testing the waters here…
Wasn't the LAST star wars movie extraordinarily bad? I will confess that I only watched the first 17 minutes (before pulling the DVD and watching Max X instead) so it MAY have improved after that. Someone told me it DIDN'T have JarJar the Special Needs Rastafarian, and that sounds promising as far as it goes.
Anyway, am I alone here? Is everyone waiting with baited breath?
Also, I don't want to ruin the movie for everybody, but I have a suspicion that Anakin is going to embrace the Dark Side.
Last one sucked, you didn't miss a thing.

The last film (Episode II) was exceptionally bad...for a Star Wars film. But you have to consider that the originial Star Wars trilogy is made up of the three greatest films ever made, thus expectations are quite high. Compared to most other complete ****e being released nowadays, Episode I and Episode II really aren't that horrible. However, in the context of their predecessors, they're almost unwatchable.
I have high hopes for Revenge of the Sith.

Two out of three ain't bad, but Return of the Jedi is chock-full of fast forwardable crap. Not even close to one of the best movies ever made.... and with hindsight, the Ewoks were an intimation of Jar Jar.
Theres talk of a TV show based on some of the Star Wars characters.
I haven't seen episode II, I should before I see episope III, even though some say its not that good.
Episodes 4,5, and 6 are the best, even though the special effects are now so much more spectacular.
Does anyone else find a perverse
similiarity between JarJar and
Vaughn Bode's lizards? (only with
ears).
konageezer thanks for giving the end away,
ruined the whole friggin thing. :D

I know i would have liked to have given him a good "goomph," if you know what I mean.
Saw it this morning...12:01AM. I saw E IV with my wife all those years ago, so I figured I should end on a high note. Stood in line with Cloud Strife and his friends.
I think E3 is the best of the last three (I, II, III), but not as good as the first three (IV, V, VI).
I've been sharp as a tack today!
The CG characters are much more interesting than the real live ones.

Lucas has stated that he's not going to make the next three movies in the series, but if this one makes a hojillion dollars I'm sure he'll go back and revisit that statement with new techniques in special effects and filmography to better reflect his original vision.

I thought Lucas said he was making Episodes VII, VIII, and IX for sure? I would be disappointed (frankly, the man should be kept away from ink and paper), but at the same time I'd really like to see what he would come up with.

No love the Ewoks? Shame on you. I even own the Ewok Adventures VHS.

I saw it lastnight at Midnight other then getting out of the theatre at 3:00am this morning and for not being a huge Star War fan I think people will enjoy it. It is very dark, but also very interesting to see the battle that goes on with characters that you have connected yourself with in all the other movies.

ha that was my buddy icon for a while. Its hilarious!
Well, I thought the first two prequals were pretty bad. The second one I cannot even stay awake through. It is terrible.
I'm just waiting for it to come to Starz or Encore or something like that. I was burned from that first movie. I don't care how good they say it is, I'm not going to pay good money to see it at a theater.
Thank goodness it's finally over.

I am going to see it tomorrow for a matinee. I couldn't miss it in the theater. I've seen all of the other 5 in the Theater (even though I don't really remember my parents taking me to see Star Wars in 1977 at age 3 so well).
I think Koffee is being too kind saying that the first 2 prequals were pretty bad..They were aweful! Every good piece of special effects that they put in, were masked my Hayden Christiansen's horrid acting, and JarJar's stupidly.
I mean the original three were no works of art, but they were FUN, and they were amazing considering what technology they actually had to work with...and for each prequal I got excited, got my expectations really high...and CRASH!
But this this final movie I have been talking myself OUT of getting excited. Keeping the expectations low...but those trailers...they have been AWESOME! so once again, expectations high...and I am excited again! DAMN!

Saw the movie, liked it, I have only one question:
How can any actor not have chemistry with Natalie Portman?
Other than that, I thought it was nifty.

Not to sound too cranky, but there's no way I'm paying to see this movie.
Episode I = the jar jar disatater
Episode II = Everyone is tied to everything (Anakin BUILT C3PO and Boba Fet's Dad's genes were used to clone stormtroopers??)
Episode III = Will never get my time or money.
Hell, with the 20 freakin' minutes of COMMERCIALS peple have to sit through, it's a wonder anyone goes to the movies anymore.
Grump grump.

I'm waiting to see the first five of them so I will understand the plot.
Cool!! Now you can watch them in order!!!!! ;)

I'm going to boycotting this one. The museum of History in Boston Canceled an exhibit celebrating the 300th birthday of one of our nations founding fathers and is instead is doing an exhibit on the sciencebehind the fiction of Star Wars. I think it is much more important to learn of our nations background and about the people involved with it than it is to make a big deal out of a stupid movie.

Episode III was great. In opinon it did a good job of salvaging the stories of the previous two movies and totally enhances the original trilogy giving you a nice background. Then again Lucas paid someone else to write the screenplay for this one...Smart man.
could someone explain to me why the **** that robot was coughing? and why people seem to not bleed when disembowled by a light saber, and lastly why jar jar binks didnt get a speaking role...
btw. the army of chewbaccas was awesome

That robot had organs on the inside of it's exo-skeleton. Lightsabers cauterize whatever they cut. Because Lucas was merciful this tome. What I don't understand is why the jedis didn't disappear when they died, like Yoda and Obi Wan did.
i saw the organs.... why does a robot need organs?

Ever heard of a cyborg?
What I don't understand is why the jedis didn't disappear when they died, like Yoda and Obi Wan did.
Maybe they just didn't have enough "force essence" to disappear?
Then again, maybe this movie will have enough force essence to disappear from the theaters. :D

About the Star Wars craze,
Did you hear about Ghyslain, the Canadian kid? He made a short
movie himself, no doubt intending to keep it private. But friends found
it and put it on the Internet. Others enhanced it. And now he's famous.
Here are three clips that feature Ghyslain:

Actually, General Grievious was my favorite character in the movie. He had that cool bike too.
By making him so sick, you knew he was at least part organic. As evil as he was, I kind of felt sorry for him.
Hey, give ,e a break! It was 1:00 in the morning! I did do a full day's work too! 36 hours W/O sleep. It was worth it...

Cheer up, they raised the Titanic on a later movie. ;)
oh yeah, and why does the ship start to "sink" when it loses power in the begining
Watched it tonight. (on TV) hehe you gotta love the internet... Although I will definitley go see it in the theatre.
Ian Mcdermid was excellent. Hayden Christiansen was better than in the last one, but he was not up to the challenge in the scenes with Mcdermid.
Ewan McGregor did a great job. I thought he made a great bridge to the Obi-wan we know from episode 4.
Aside from some of the cornball scenes with Anakin and Padme, (sorry, just couldnt get past them because of the last movie) I thought it was excellent. They did a good job bringing it all together.
Just my 2 cents!! :D

I guess the only logical explanation for that is they were in a low orbit???????? I was wondering the same thing myself. How does everyone on the ship slide around all over the place When it tilts!!
They must have the old gravity simulation button pushed!

It was okay. My biggest complaint was making Yoda look like a coward when he was crawling away from the fight with Palpatine.
What I would LOVE to see is a movie based on Han Solo. That would so kick ass! When he rescue's chewy from the slavers and the adventures they have.

It was very good. I would see it again, at some point. I didn't really see the last two, but this one was good. It showed real character development and struggle. Lucas earned some points back with this one.

star wars sucked, I saw it last night
the darth vader transformation was very anti-climactic--this was the only reason I went. at least this movie wasn't as ****ty as the last two
the dialogue between anakin and padme was some of the worst acting I have ever seen, I think this is more due to Lucas' poor writing--I have seen christianson and portman do well in other movies
ewan mcgregor was good and he definitely bridges the gap between the last two films and alec guiness in the 1977 star wars
Ian McDarmid (sp?) was good.
Sam Jackson and Jimmy Smits. WTF?? Did Lucas lose a bet or something? What are these guys doing in a Star Wars movie.
looking forward to batman begins and war of the worlds now, as big summer films, willy wonka too
