Hey there
does anybody no if it works better to have a standard or compact chainring if you are going to have 1 speed in front and 9 in back?????

Use whatever size you need to get the gear ratios you need. Work out, in "gear inches", the gear that you want.
1x9 is popular with city couriers for fast road riding. For off road you would need a smaller ring.

Specialities-TA make hardwearing rings in any size, for lots of different cranks. You dont need any pins or ramps .
