does anybody no if it works better to have a standard or compact chainring if you are going to have 1 speed in front and 9 in back?????

i recently switched from a 48X15 to a 1X9 and it is rough riding. the worst is when the 1 tooth in the front isn't in the chain. you get NO pull on the chain and NO stopping power. plus, the 9 cog is really hard to find in most LBS's. so i'd say compact is better.

Well I know what works best...1 speed in front and 1 speed in back.
Seriously though,Check out the road cycling forums if you want the best help with geared solutions. Personally believe that you can use either Standard OR Compact Cranksets in your situation with no problems.
