Can somebody break down the different categories and characteristics that go along with bikes in that category please (freeride, XC, dirt jump) . I am a fairly newby riding an old Trek 6000 hardtail, but looking to jump into a full suspension bike. I just have no idea how much travel i need. I live in florida so my riding involves "florida mounains":) I do alot of trail riding with a pretty good mixture of terrain. From my limited reading i believe I will do best with a cross country bike so I am looking at the Specialized FSR XC for about $1100, with deore shifters LX front XT rear and v brakes. Any suggestions in the same price point (< $1500) that I should look at will be greatly appreciated.
