Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I've never done a Critical Mass in my life yet my gal wants to go at the end of month. She thinks it'll be "fun". Fun for me on a Friday night would be perusing the literary classics, such as Robin Quiver's A Life or possibly taking in a matinee of "Family Guy" followed by a nap on my couch. Though sadly it looks I'm gonna have to go for a little ride. Weeeee!
I've never gone on one because the folks who participate seem a bit extreme for me. I really don't want to protest anything, promote any social cause, I've never been to a Food Not Bombs, I don't own a "freak bike" and I eat meat. Lots of it. God, I want some crispy bacon right now.
I'm kinda one of those guys who wants to go have fun. Period. So I need to know what I need to bring for my first Chicago Critical Mass. I know I need my track bike (or "Streetrack" in [165] speak) but what else. Here's my list:
1) A bandana to cover my face.
2) A "Free Mumia" sign.
3) A funny little bell for my handlebars. Maybe in the shape of a bear.
4) Fill - - In - - The - - Blank

Please don't take me seriously. I'm just winding down from a long day & trying to get over a cold.

You need to soak your bandanna in vinegar -- it helps with the tear gas.

oh - and don't forget the ubiquitous bottle of "something ammonia based" in case you are stung by a jellyfish.

You just need a sixpack. Come on you guys, Critical Mass is fun. Don't be such cynics. You ride around and drink beer with a bunch of people. There are lots of cool bikes and nice people to talk to. And drink beer. You don't have to yell at cars or wave a sign. Just drink b...awe, you get the idea. Don't be haters.
P.S. The bell shaped like a bear is a good idea too.
OH! OH! OH! A tourniquet for random roadside chain lubing accidents!

Your copy of "The Immortal Class" for Trav. to sign.
A flyer for something, anything, best if it's about a labor struggle.
Dunno, but I had fun last time.
i'm going after a hiatus of over a year. i'll be on this six person bike, hopefully we'll be stocked with a cooler full of yummy-ness and the bell's brewery in tow.

I might ride my tandem instead. Ira, I'm gonna strap a mini-key on the back seat. Bring a frosty mug and we'll ride!
Seriously, it sounds like a good idea!
Maybe like a boom box too for some richeous jams!
And if any of the Chicago contingent of Bike Forums are present I'd like to meet ya'll.

That sounds delicious. FYI, the cops sometimes get funny about the open containers, so keep it on the d/l. I'm going to be in Wisconsin for that weekend, but I'm sure there will be a lot of cool people out, as summer is finally in effect.

One my friends used to ride about with a blow-up doll on the back of his Vespa. I might take it up a notch and get a "Real Doll" for the ride...
a hockey mask and anything with a skull on it...

Anyway, I'm going to try to make it down to the CM, it would be my first. If you see me, say hello!

I dunno, around 4:30 I'm listening to the close of the Roe Conn show. It's kinda sucks without Gary but it gets me in the mood for Hannity. Then I go to be with O'Reiley

Yeah, it kinda sucks. There's zip variety on that station without Conn. And Conn kinda sucks solo but the Stever is so damn boring.
But WLS's previous managment botched alot of things. Gary. Don Wade & Roma's contract. Marvin. The list goes on.
I miss the old AM 1000 / WLUP powerhouse of years ago.
But whatever. Soulseek & my Itunes fill any void.
Though Feder mentioned something of Brandmeier and Meier teaming up. Maybe a rumor but it'd be good.
