Looks like a very hard day that will be fracture the peloton. Looks like we will be left with only two legitimate contenders after this stage. Also....we will know after this stage if Simoni has any real hope of winning this Giro.
This looks like a stage that favors Simoni or Salvodelli. Basso only needs to follow and keep close to Simoni..and especially Salvoldelli.
Salvodelli could take the maglia rosa today.
What a great Giro!!!!! I've gotta order this on DVD later!
Awesome stage, there was lots of drama today. Can't wait to watch it on OLN.

Haven't seen or read any reports yet, but I'm going to go with Salvodelli with Basso in tow. I think Ivan is going to let someone else set the pace today and mark whomever he needs to mark.
I wish I could watch it on tv. WAAAH! Next year we'll be getting RAI on digital, i can't wait!

Yup, I watched it on RAI this morning. What a fantastic stage! :)
Details?
Unfortunately, my internet connection is non-existant. I have to sneak in time on my brother's laptop when he has it around. :( I haven't been able to follow anything except what I get on bikeforums when I log in (since I moved, that is). :( *sigh*

Ivan Parra (Selle Italia-Columbia) won with a nice breakaway toward the end, but Savoldelli took the maglia rosa by getting a gap between himself and Basso. Early in the stage Cunego and Simoni got a gap on the peloton with some nice climbing, but they were reeled in and were never threatening to extend their lead.
The race tightened up nicely as Savoldelli got the maglia rosa, but Cunego and Simoni weren't too far behind. Basso was a little bit back of the Lampre boys. So it's a four-man race now with some great stages on tap. From cyclingnews.com:
General classification after stage 13
1 Paolo Savoldelli (Ita) Discovery Channel-Pro Cycling Team 60.31.12
2 Ivan Basso (Ita) Team CSC 0.50
3 Danilo Di Luca (Ita) Liquigas-Bianchi 0.53
4 Gilberto Simoni (Ita) Lampre-Caffita 2.16
5 Juan Manuel Garate (Spa) Saunier Duval-Prodir 2.39
6 Pietro Caucchioli (Ita) Credit Agricole 3.25
7 Serguei Gonchar (Ukr) Domina Vacanze 4.05
8 Jose' Rujano Guillen (Ven) Selle Italia-Colombia 4.23
9 Marzio Bruseghin (Ita) Fassa Bortolo 4.54
10 Dario David Cioni (Ita) Liquigas-Bianchi 6.17
I can't believe Di Luca. Dude is on form.

I had a party for my graduating seniors at my house today and completely blanked out and missed the stage!!! What is happening to me? sounds like it must have been a great stage. That stinks that Basso is fighting some sort of stomach bug, if he doesn't recover by tomorrow, it could be over for him. If he cracks tomorrow because of sickness and loses a bunch of time, Bjarne should pull him out and refocus him for the Tour. (I don't know how well that works physiologically, but it sounds good to me)

I dunno, but it's happening to me, too. I've managed to catch maybe two of the Sunday afternoon OLN coverage (all season!), much less the Giro Saturday coverage. I wish they'd do re-runs some weeknight evening. :(

Tivo, VCR, MythTV. Get thee a PVR of some sort and never miss another race, show, or movie!
The revolution is being recorded.
