Ride report (http://filtersweep.blogspot.com/)
Here are a few pics taken in honor of "bike to work day" from my 19.4 mile commute home last night. I commute as often as possible- these days I'm lucky to ride 3 days/week, since I have so many meetings out of the office.
The river provides a nice buffer to the urbanization around here- much of my ride feels like I'm close to nature, even though it is surrounded by city. The last 7 miles are quite urban and uninteresting, and too dangerous to take photos while riding- and I wasn't into stopping in traffic.
Wow, thats some nice riding. I have like 20 blocks or so of bike lane, but the rest is much too dangerous to ride-and-take pictures at the same time. Good for you, though.. 19.4 miles... yowza..

I rode to work too, but I didn’t take any pictures. The ride in was misery. A northeast wind in my face from 95th to 800 North. So strong at times I could have walked faster. Every cyclist that passed headed the opposite direction I either cursed or laughed at, depending on my mood, which was generally in the shi++er. Finished work ‘round midnight and Gus and Robbie wanted to ride, so I said, let’s go to Cal’s. Cal’s had a sloppy garage band in the VU vein playing so we ordered up some beers and let it groove. Both tarbenders are avid cyclists, one planing on a triple century this year, the other all but definite in doing RAAM next year. We chatted Moots and wheels and RAAM and listened to sloppy garage band music in the VU vein and then I head home in a nice, late night tailwind.

Your commute looks much nicer than mine. I wish I lived in Minneapolis in the summer. :)

I was really impressed at the san francisco commuters. I volunteered at a morning stop (passed out bagels, coffee, and bike to work day bags) and it was raining and there were still tons of commuters rolling though!! And more than just the hardcore riders with fancy raingear - even the riders just trying it for the one day! No fixies rolled by my stop though :(

I was the only one that rode into my work. Fair weather bikers, the whole lot of them.
There should be a make-up BTW Day in SF because the weather just discouraged any potential newbies.
