Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - For the Bay Area folks

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Omafiets (Kai Matsuda's new shop) is having its official grand opening tomorrow (Sunday, May 22) through the 29th. I've stopped in a few times to see the pre-grand opening stuff and it's beautiful. The shop is in Berkeley on Milvia just south of University. The sign says Eugene's Antiques. I'll probably ride over there sometime around noon tomorrow (perhaps after brunch at the Thai temple?)

Anyone still up for a memorial day weekend field trip to the east bay (from SF)??
Grab some lunch, some beer, and check out some shops?
Perhaps saturday?

i gotta get over there...maybe this saturday the 28th. can't wait to check out his new digs.
So I stopped in to say hello and look around on Saturday. Kai was super nice and talked with my partner and I for a while and showed us some things. The space is very small, but everything there (even the geared bikes, *gasp*) is beautiful. His idea is to mainly do repairs, but have bikes he's working on be on display for a while so that folks can get ideas of things they'd like done to their bikes. More gallery and shop and teahouse than store. For now he's open some afternoons and evenings, and weekends. Possibly more after the summer. He's also got lots of stuff made by local artisans and craftspeople, and prefers to sell to locals (no internet or phone selling.)
