The river by our house is flooding onto the yard...

It's even worse at two of our neighbor's yards, one of them is out with a tractor building dams to stop the water flow from getting to their house. All the snow up in durango is melting, so it flows into the river and flows down here.

Oh man that sucks. My friends lawn (before she moved to the city) looked like that once, but it wasn't water. Yup...it stunk for days! Very much like that scene from Meet The Parents...without the whole wedding thing going on.

Hope it doesn't get into the house.

One word: sandbags

Pile them up around your house to prevent your basement becoming a pool.

Well, there isn't a basement...

It's risen a little higher now, probably won't quite get to the porch, or to the bottom of the house.

heh, yea my neighbors yard has ponds forming as well. We are lucky, except for our basement which had a great deal of water in it a few weeks ago. What the guy did next door was take a 5 gallon bucket and drill many holes inside of it, then he put a submergable pump inside of it and whenver the bucket got full because of the underground water it pumps it out. It did help a bit for hte areas around the house, he just channels it into the street

Those are supposed to be around your house, I think they're called a sump-pump.

Those are supposed to be around your house, I think they're called a sump-pump.
Yes i think so too. However what was done was having a pump put in his accumulating ponds, not in the house.
