I'm wondering where the SS MTB type of biking should be discussed? Here or in the MTB forum?

You're kind of boned either way. Most people in the mtb forum are all about suspension bikes and hucking off of rocks and suchlike.

Most people in this forum seem to enjoy discussing the finer points of messenger bags and uncomfortable yet aesthetically pleasing brakeless track bikes.

Crossposting is frowned upon.

I'd say post here with drivetrain tech questions and ride reports, post there with other sorts of things.

In here'd be cool. We need more of it in this forum.

Yay for those Manitou 4's. I wore out mine a while ago and swapped them out with a rigid Surly.

As for SS MTB questions, there's quite a few people who lurk about. Some post over in the MTBR forums.

Younderboy, Thanks for the response about gearing. In another post. I put a 21t on and took it for a ride. I think it might be ok for tomorrows ride. I threw the Raleigh together today and it turned out pretty nice.

when I started posting here, I had just built my first SS mtb conversion.

two years later I've built one rigid SS-specific mtb and two fixed road bikes.

this forum accelerates bike lust.

I will post my questions, ride reports and creations here that are SS/Fixie/MTB or Road.. In addition to the SS/MTB I posted pics of I also have an IRO Fixie/SS. One way or another I have a bike to fit EVERY Forum in the mix and qualify also for the "Over the hill gang". I find it too "Bike Type Confining" to be single venued. I'd run outta things to build, modify or just plain ole' putz with. Things are getting very interesting. I just bought a used mig welding outfit to go with my brazing kit and stick welder.

Fixie recumbent? Now where would I post that?

Yeah ... the MTBR board, which I also frequent, is definitely way more MTB oriented, and also much more ... ahem ... serious. I think everyone here probably appreciates a nice SS.

it's not so much the format as it is the medium...

i certainly can appreciate anything pertaining to fixed riding- it's the ss stuff that i'm indifferent toward. here's some propaganda (http://www.63xc.com/).

Thanks for the info/link. Nice forum and it has a forum dedicated to SS/MTB. I have a road fixie also and bikes that fit into many different forums. I enjoy them all. For me it's about the bike. For some their particular venue whether it is fixie, ss, competition road, recumbent etc....It can be like religion and politics for some. Cultlike in some cases. Having all sorts of rides is more fun...at least for me that is

Worse comes to worse, you can always join us mutant cyclists over in the Alt Bike Culture forum. :) If you hacked it up with a saw and mig'd it back together, its got at least a little mutant flavor, and we'd be glad to have you. :D

peace,
sam

P.S. As to the original question, there are SS mtbrs here, just lurking. Post your SS specific things here, and things like, "what tire to buy" send over to the 'regular' mtb forum I'd guess.

Yeah, that sounds about right.
