Good evening! My name is Mike and I finally decided to register since this forum is really active on mountain bike topics. :)

But I wanted to say hi, and I am a owner of:

1995 Schwinn MOAB Elite 26" (made in Boulder, Co)
Some of the specs on my bike are the following:
21 spd, Shimano brakes, cables (M55t PADs), Shimano Alivio gears and 3 piece crank case, Tioga steering, rear rims Shimano ALTUS, front rim is a Mavic made in france (very lite btw), Rear tire is a KENDA, and I had to get a new tire today for the front and I never heard of it but it is a ROLL-X.

There is no shocks on it.
This bike actually been sitting at my parents home for about 3 years and I was going to buy a new bike, but parents insisted me to take a look at this MOAB before getting a new one. I did and it rides great. I did some research and it seems to be one of the better schwinns before they sold out (I think).

But enough of my rambling. I just wanted to say hi and I plan to get back into this sport. I been riding every day. Now I just need to get tehe gears fixed since I am only able to change to 3 gears only. lol

oh btw, anyone here in Austin, TX that rides the greenbelt or any other trails around here? Probably a dumb question, but maybe I can ride with you all once I get everythng working out.

Thanks and take care
Mike

Welcome to bikeforums, Mike.

Nothing wrong with only having 3 working gears... unless they're really low or really high :P

I think there are a few members near you... they'll hopefully reply here.

Thanks Madman,

The 3 gears that work are all on gear 7 and switchable frome 1,2,3 gears. lol. I can't change off from gear 7 thats on the left side of the handlebars.

A guy at work rides mountain bikes and it pretty heavy into it. I think he was some cop patrol like 4 years ago, but he was nice enough to offer to take a look at my bike gears and fix/adjust it. I thought that was awsome of him.

Thanks

I have a 98 Schwinn Moab too my friend. We are a rare event. It has treated me well and she is quite a different bike from when I bought her. You know what they say about riding a bike, it's like riding a bike. You neverforget. Welcome back to the fun!

Hey man, welcome to the forums. Glad to see another Austinite in the mix. You should check out Walnut Creek along with the Greenbelt. I ride with a couple of guys that I work with but you should also check out www.bikemojo.com, the majority of everyone there is from Austin. :D
