Took an unusual ride today and I am envoius of the pilots seat. That is comfortable.

Yesterday fitted new chain, cassette and derailler. XT chain, LX derailler and XTR rapid rise rear derailler. I am the mechanic of the team, and a lot of other riders too but that is beside the point. I wanted to go for a gentle but testing ride on the Tandem on my own just so that I could get the final adjustments on the new bits. Felt odd as I am normally the stoker, so that is why I now envy that plush position up the front.

All I can say is no adjustment whatsoever necessary from garage setup, and that XTR kit is fantastic. I have never felt such a crisp clean change on any bike that I have ridden before. This is my first foray into XTR and if the rest is as good as this, then I will be buying more. Only problem is that being rapid rise, the gearchange worked the opposite way to normal with my XT changers, but even that felt natural within a couple of miles. Incidentally 22 miles covered and at average of 14mph and that took in a couple of hills aswell. If only I can get the pilot to put in the same amount of power as I had to today, we should be flying next time out.
