I'm no racer, but Greg Lemond's book (came out in the 80s, was revised at least once in 1990) is very racing specific, and has lots of interesting advice re position, planning the season (peaking), training, diet etc. A very easy reading book, and he has some experience!:)

There is also a Brit book that is real nice, illustrated and very well-organized - the name escapes me....I'll check tonight at home.

Friel's book: "Cyclists Training Bible" (or something like that) is *very* well written. Best I've seen so far.

here we go: http://www.powells.com/cgi-bin/biblio?inkey=16-1859603009-1

The Racing Bike Book by Steve Thomas (published by Haynes). great pics and pretty thorough. I beleive there were only 2 editions so far, last one out in 2000.

This has got to be oop, but if you ever see a copy of The Complete Cycle Sport Guide by Peter Konopka (early 80s - wow I am really dating myself....) GRAB it!!! very very old school but still good stuff you can use.

Sorry to throw these old dinos at everyone - that's what you get from us librarians! :p
