Commuting - Going commando

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I commute every day in my bike shorts simply because it is more comfortable and no risk of damaging the office attire. Sometimes I take office clothes on the bike, but other times I keep them at the office. However, I nearly always carry the daily boxers with me.
Today, for some reason I can't figure out, I forgot the undies. I wasn't even rushed this morning, in fact, I had more time than usual. The ONE item of clothing I carry EVERY day, and I forget to bring'em. To make matters worse, I had taken home for replacement the emergency pair I keep in the office. Sooo, today I'm going commando under the dockers.
There ya go....now you know more than you really needed to know.

Same thing happened to me today. Forgot my droors. Luckily my spare pair was right in my filing cabinet for such emergencies.
In case of emergency, pick up hammer, break glass and remove underwear.

That is funny stuff. Noting for future use (both phrase and idea).

Spare underwear and socks are right behind towel, soap and deodorant as must haves in the office. I always make sure to leave at least a couple of pairs or underwear and socks in the office. So far I haven't needed the underwear, but I've forgotten socks a couple of times. I guess now we know what comes between PurpleK and his Dockers to paraphrase the immortal Brooke Shields ad.

I carry my office cloths with me every day. The only thing I leave at the office are my shoes. I've forgotten my underwear more than once. The underwear are really no big deal because no one notices. But when you forget the socks, that does get noticed. Dress shoes and cycling socks (or white athletic socks depending on the weather) just doesn't look right.

I've been going commando since age 16... I guess that's why going commando under bike shorts just kinda came naturally.. lol

Man, the shoulder bag is permanently packed with a spare set of socks and underwear. Rain and stupidity both happen.
Been there. Done that.
I carry my lunch in a backpack and on one particular day, also had my change of clothes in there instead of setting everything up at work the day before. Pulled out my clothes and ewwww! Oh gawd, pickle juice spilled from the sandwich onto everything. I was in a moderate panic. Went to ask the football coach at the school I work at if he had a hair dryer. Instead, he pointed to the room with the WASHING MACHINE AND DRYER! Died and went to heaven.
Now I double-bag my lunch!

Install banana in bag of clothes. Fly somewhere. Do something. Meet up with friend and do other stuff for almost a week. Then fly back. Did I mention forget to eat the banana? In fact, forget about banana completly - this is important, as is the fact that the flight back has to have turbulence.
Become utterly mystified at this ..... ICK .... that's distributed around the bag's contents. Remember the banana when in the process of cleaning/forensics you find a recognizable piece of banana peel.

I thought everyone went commando. Next month will be my 2nd "anniversary". ;)

I just use spandex running shorts as underwear, wear them under bike shorts for the commute, wear them under Dockers for the office. Under no circumstances though would I ever admit to wearing spandex.
Wait, I didn't just say that, I don't wear spandex, you imagined me saying that.

Forgetting underwear isn't all that bad, as noted. I once forgot my shirt. Luckily a friend of mine hadn't left home yet, so I called him and he lent me one of his.
Ever since that day I always keep a full set of clothes at work, no matter what. They don't come home unless I can replace them that instant.
Of course it's all moot since I haven't commuted in a long time because of back problems.

Man, I had no idea so many people went commando. Although I guess if you think about it how different is it to wear boxers or not wear them.
Only question I have for KirkeIsWaiting is... doesn't that get inconvenient ohhhhh say every 28 days or so?
Here's a few more T-shirts.

That's what tampoons are for.

Would a tampoon be an oversized tampon?

Did the same thing the other day. Somehow, wrapping paper towels around my midsection did not have the same affect as wearing the standard brief.
Yup - no sooner had this post made its way to the top of the forum, I got to work this morning and realized I had forgotten said boxers. I hate it when that happens.

Didn't the towels make rustling sounds when you were walking?
My thought on the paper towels -- why bother with them?

The tampons I used as dampers took care of the rusting :p
