Hello!

Anybody ordered a Burley tandem in the last 2 to 3 months? I was quoted 5-6 weeks but it's been 2 months since I ordered mine and haven't gotten the tandem yet.

Any feedback or comments from people who ordered one?

Haven't ordered one, but when in doubt and if you're not satisfied with your dealer's status reports contact Burley directly. They should be willing and able to status your order... to include looking out into the shop to see where it is in the process.

Hopefully it's on the way!
Do call the 1-800 number for Burley and they can give you a heads-up!
Heck we just waited 3 months for a new paint job on our tandem. Patience is a virtue . . . we are not virtuous!

LuisB you are not building confidence in my Burley order!?!? :o Mine is suppose to be here by the end of the month first weekend in June. Hmm.... some how I have a nagging bad feeling I won't see it on time.

Anybody else in the same boat?

I'm having that feeling of deja vu, recalling similar posts from some good folks anxiously awaiting their Co-Motions when Co-Mo had a bottleneck in their paint booth last year.

Let me try this again... If your dealer hasn't taken the initiative to ascertain the production status on your tandem and/or you are concerned by rumors or other reports of late deliveries call Burley, tell them who you are, who you're purchasing your tandem through, and ask them when you can expect it to arrive at your dealer. Then you'll know... or at least you'll have a point of reference for any future delays.

Our friends just got their new Rivazza they ordered in February. Talking with Burley, they said they were really backed-up with orders.

Good Luck!

TG et al:

I contact my dealer and Burley weekly this past month and Burley is so apologetic about the delay. They've said on more than one occasion that "they've exceeded their projections for this year" that is why the long delay. I am not used to dealing with small companies like Burley and I still didn't ask them what the prediction issue means.

On a positive note, I talked to Burley yesterday and they said they've started shipping tandems this week which explain the receipt of the Rivazza order from February. Hopefully, mine and MTB's will come soon. I asked them what the estimated delivery time is for new orders and they said mid-August because they're still dealing with the prediction issue.

I feared a long delay if I waited until spring to get a tandem, so i bought one in December. It took two weeks for the dealer to get it. Granted, not a lot of miles were put on it in Jan and Feb, but come March, we were ready to ride. For all future tandem buys, think about ordering one during the early winter when demand is not as high. Burley will come through with your tandem and once you get it you'll never regret the wait.

Have known some custom builders with a one year (or more) waiting list!
Agree, the best time to order a tandem for spring is in the winter time.
You'll not regret ordering that Burley once you get it on the road!

LouisB, thanks for the update. Hopefuly mine tandem is in the bunch they are shipping out this week.

Zonatandem I hope you are right. I did not even test ride a burley. I bought based on reviews and geometry. Last time I did that I had good luck. That was one season ago and the bike was a Litespeed Hyperion which I bought from colorado cyclist and I love the bike.

I ordered my Burley Duet last Saturday at Performance in Tucson. The salesman called the factory Monday with the order and they confirmed back on Tuesday with a 4-6 week delivery time. I don't know if it's true, but I wonder if the factory preferentially ships faster to their better dealers. I know when I was looking, some shops told me Burley wouldn't sell to them at all!

Mark Johnson at precisiontandems.com sells Burley. He is a nice guy. Email him and see what his experience has been for his customers.

We had no problems taking delivery of ours, but that was early last year.

I hope you get yours soon :)

Just got off the phone and for what its worth they are running about two weeks behing schedule. I was quoted 4-5 weeks and now its 7-8 weeks.

Oh well good things come to those who wait. Just hate it for my wife cause she is dying to ride and I ride a bunch already on my single (road & mountian).

I also just got off the phone with Burley and they said my TOSA was shipped on 5/31 and would take a week to ship to Illinois. Thanks all for your encouragement.

Mtb - Hope yours will ship soon. I was quoted a delivery of mid-May, so that makes a 2 week delay. Next time you call, ask for Chad. He's always helped me with my order status.
