Hey all,
Well this summer i plan to travel to Washington to see my Aunt and set up a bike for my little cousin since my uncle is in Iraq and I plan to go to LA to see my bike building grandpa, so i need a bike case. My mom said today to find the cheapest bike case and buy it today. So if anyone knows of any good bike equipment sites, throw them at me. The cheapest i've seen them is like $200 so.....
Thanks all!

Coincidently, was looking at these today, have one in my wish list:
I would try the Performance Cargo Case (http://www.performancebike.com/shop/sub_cat.cfm?subcategory_id=4415) on sale at 190.00. I think there is a 20% coupon currently available till 06/07: 6001201. If you have team membership, you get 10% more (on future order), and if my memory serves me right you get an additional $5.00 (500 team points) if you order by midnight tonight.
This must get you a cargo case for around $150.00 + shipping which is around your budget. Team Membership two days free upgrade will get it to you by end of week if you're in a hurry. Check this bulleting board for reviews, I do remember having heard bad things about it.
Note: I am not affiliated to Performance. Just helping. :D Bon voyage!
I'm selling mine for 100 euros, but the shipping might be a problem as I live in Germany.

I have the Performance hard shell case, and it has served very well. I have taken it on several airlines and never had a problem at all. Once, I even saw it fall about six feet from the airplane bulkhead conveyor belt to the tarmac. (There were large windows in the airport gate waiting area and I was able to watch luggage being loaded on my flight, and it was easy to identify my case. It was not a comfortable flight wondering if there was any damage to the bike.) When I opened the case, there was no damage at all to any of the contents. Even the case was hardly scratched. Back in those days I was able to lock the case with two padlocks. Not sure if they will let you do that now.

Good review, thanks.
You cannot lock luggages anymore, they will cut them or even damage the case, so no locks.
I remember having seen an ad for padlocks specifically made for airport luggage, whereby only airport security could open, haven't heard any reports or reviews on them though.

I bring my locks with me to the airport, allow them to inspect the case and then ask them to lock the case up. Hasn't ever been a problem for me.
Oh...I also have the case from Performance and think it's a good buy.
