Introductions - Greetings from Mercer Island (Seattle), WA

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Whao! What do you write to introduce yourself to the masses? hmmm...

Okay, let's start with the fact that I am now officially back into biking after some ten years off. In fact, that was the last time I rode 1/2 of the STP (Seattle to Portland) and skipped day two because my butt hurt too much to sit on the saddle. Training would have helped. Spent the day sagging others & helping fix bikes. But I digress...

Anyway, I walked into my local pawn shop the other day & walked out with a near new 03' Cannondale Cyclocross Disc bike. The discs (at my size of 6'4" 260lbs) sold me. And for $700, I got a near new bike so that definitely clinched the deal.

Last year we got my wife a Conquest Disc R, and she loves it. I was riding a mountain bike with knobbies on it, and just was not having all that much fun. I bought it for the disc stopping power, but I guess I had forgotten the speed I enjoyed on a road bike (yeah, I DO consider my new bike a road bike). Anyway, with the first ride about a week ago, I was hooked again. I am back at the point where I can now plant my FatA** on the skinny seat about every day and not hurt anymore. WHY DID I EVER STOP RIDING?

So now I try to get on the bike for at least 30 -45 minutes every other night. I use a Concept II rower as well on off nights from riding. I am feeling much more determined to beat myself back into shape this year & lose my FatA**. Which, incidentally, if there are any other MI riders in here who won't dust me, I would be happy to join you for a few evening 1/2 to full island rides.

Lesse, what else... Married, two boys, enjoy rowing, flyfishing(when I have time), reading.

Real name is Dan.

Thanks for reading!
