I tried searching this but couldn't find anything....

I see a lot of "who's the greatest racer," but i'm curious about which Directeur has the most Grand Tour wins to his credit. Or places on the podium? Or most races, period? Most classics? And then the ever-debatable, "who's the best?"

I'll help get the ball rolling. If I remember correctly Cyrille Guimard has 7 tours (1 x Van Impe, 4 x Hinault, 2 x Fignon), 3 Giros (2 x Hinault, 1 x Fignon), 1 Vueltas (Hinault) TOTAL 11. Beat that you other DSess!

Johan Bruneel is starting to rack them up courtesy of Lance Armstrong. If Lance comes through this July, I believe that'll make 8 for him. 7 tours + 1 Vuelta (Heras)

Jose Miguel Echavarri has at least 8 - 5 tours (Indurain), 2 Giros (Big Mig) and a Vuelta (Olano). When looking him up I was shocked to see that Big Mig never won a Vuelta..........

Echavarri...good call. I think he has a Vuelta and Tour with Delgado as well.

Alfredo Binda might be right up there, depending on how you count. I'm pretty sure he was the manager of the Italian team for Bartoli and Coppi's wins. One would think that means he was the DS for a major Italian team and likely picked up some of the other wins of at least one of those 2 riders. But I have no idea how to look that up.

If Savoldelli wins this weekend it'll be 9 for Bruyneel.
