Kill!!!!!
well, this boarders on the rediculous. I am just waiting for the first report of someone in a Navigator pulling up next to someone on a bike smiling and giving the big thumbs up.
i'd punch someone in the face if they gave me a thumbs up, i dont care what/if they're driving!@!!!

I suggest decaf.
I am not sure if I would resort to violence in response to said "thumbs up" however I can imagine my face contorting to a very confused expression.
I see bikes used all the time in car and truck ads. Usually to subliminally put out the message that bikes are for 'recreation' and motor vehicles are for 'transportation'.

I don't know what to say about that ad. Incredibly weird. So weird it's hard to believe it's real. It clearly is real, but just what is their target market?
Who the hell messengers with a bike sporting a paint job that rivals colnagos and has dura ace shifters?

appears that the smaller picture is off a prior messengerr but that dude in the foreground.... no way he is
i am pretty sure he is. there was a cattle call for messengers for this shoot. when we found out what it was for, most of us split. this jackass apparently decided to do the shoot.
one of the nice things (legally) is that squid went down for the cattle call and told them to stuff it when he found out what it was for. that means that they wilfully decided to use his trademark knowing squid didn't want to be associated with the product. cha-ching.

I met him back in 1999. See attached for a picture of him winning the trackstand competition at the DC Mayhem race. I was in until I had to take a hand off, but he was fine no handed. Impressive.

i see him everyday at Times Up... he's definitely a messenger.. not every messenger rides a fixie; some prefer to have gears, which doesn't make them any less of a messenger.

It would/will be a battle what with thier high powered lawyers and such.
Normally, I wouldn't say, suggest or even support this statement: But in this case, I have a bias.
SUE THE **** OUT OF THEM SQUID.
And then buy me a patch for my bag from NY cause I suggested it.

Anyway, you're back in jland now, right?

When you know dates let me know, we're doing a HUGE amount of time away from port now, but if I'm in port, I'll get a day off to get around and do @#$.
Nah, a girl I know was gonna get me some kind of NY patch..
She, uh, didn't, didn't come back from leave...
I couldn't put a CMWC patch on my bag.. I wasn't there/didn't help/didn't race so it would be against my own stupid set of rules.
Ok good to go. i will look for NY patch.

I know this, I just think it's lame that he partook in the ad.

It's just weird cause you'd think if you were riding around on a colnago with dura ace as a messenger, ur rig would get stolen real quick.

He might get something from Lincoln. I would be very surprised if they didn't just settle this out of court as quick as possible.

There's this messenger in boston who rides around on a merlin ti road frame, full dura ace, king hs, blah blah. He has the kryptonite locking skewers, and uses a mini u lock. I talked to him last night at CM.
I actually think that the mini U lock goes a long way to keeping a bike from getting stolen, at least here. Most of the time I just lock my front wheel to my frame and lean the bike on something. It kind of says - 'The owner of this bike might walk back out at any time' as well as keeping the bike unrideable....
But I don't usually lock it like that anywhere for very long.

Yea, but I only mentioned the mini u lock thing, because its not like he is using a full krypto chain to lock everything up to everything. Know what i'm a saying?

I know exactly what your saying - I'm just saying that the mini-u in some applications is better than the full lock down.
I also have this weird thought that the bike thieves that are looking for good stuff probably don't go for messenger rigs. Somehow I think there's some sort of honor there, but I don't know.

Is it just me or is the Lincoln drafting the bike?? That says a lot for the car ...
But yeah, he may just want to make this public, instead of an out-of court settlement. That way Lincoln would get another dent in their rep.

I am of the opinion that someone who is in the market for a lincoln doesn't give a **** about a lowly bottom of the totem pole messanger.

Here's the way I look at it. At least Lincoln won't be using Squid's name anymore. This whole Adrants is actually very interesting. Keep in mind its just a blog, although a widely read blog, but I can gurantee you that Lincoln saw it through some channel or another and I doubt they will run it again. So now all of a sudden, the little guy can actually strike back and strike effectively against a company as big as FORD. That's cool. And this method is much faster then any lawsuit, and cheaper :)
