General Cycling Discussion - Why do you ride?

There are plenty of reasons I could list as to why I ride. But there is no reason that I ride my bike. I ride my bike just to ride.

One word: diabetes.

Where is the racing option?!

That’s why im riding so I don’t end up with it like my dad did... Plus its fun and good exercise and fun... I did almost get right hooked yesterday.... and I only been riding 3 weeks... and he didn’t even have his blinker on either?!!? Im glad I been practicing with my front break

Remember when you first learned to ride a bike? You pushed off, and cranked down on the left pedal, and before you could roll to a stop on the grass, you magically made the transition to the right pedal, and then the left again? You wobbled all the way across the yard and turned a big arc back to the driveway, and rolled to a stop by the front porch. You were so high up, and moving so fast. Then when you started riding your bike to school, and you watched your shadow racing along on the pavement beside you, wondering why the spokes near the hub cast a shadow; but out by the rim, they were just a blur…

That's why I ride a bike.

I don't know...I just ride, go figure.

Food,clothes,roof over my head, after that its all gravy.

I ride because computer games aren't fun anymore. ;)

I ride because voices in my head tell me to do it.

I ride because I heard it's a good way to meet chicks. Hey, it worked for Lance.

I ride for the fun of it, the adventure of travelling on the open road or on the trail. The health benefits and environmental aspect are just a bonus.

without I would be an overstressedd,overweight,indoor ****** with no life....jeez I know some people like that.

Seriously, cycling has kept me fit. I don't really enjoy the traditional team sports. After college baseball and basketball had no attration doing the townie thing.

I find riding to be a very meditative experience. Going down a country road with just the sound of my bike, the wind, and the smells of nature I feel closer to enlightenment.

2. From time to time, it takes me back to my childhood... yeah when my dad would swing me around and I'd pretend I was an airplane... just now I crash land.
1. If I didn't ride, my wife wouldn't let me keep all those bikes.

I ride for fitness, recreation, I don't have a car and its my play time. :)
