Forum Suggestions & User Assistance - New Forum Title?: Big Rides and Schedules

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Joe,
How about a new forum titled, something like, "Big Rides-Info and Schedules".
I always see that a major (or moderate) ride has occurred by seeing the pictures posted after they have happened. RAGBRAI, The Katy Trail ride, the Great Frozen Recumbent Snowshoe Jackrabbit Chase Accross Alaska ride (tm ), charity rides, etc, could be posted here.
If people wanted to talk about the rides, they would have to put the comments elsewhere. this would only be for announcements and schedules of rides, nation wide.

I second the motion. Sounds like a great idea.

Could be a sub-heading under touring. I think most of these rides are considered tours.
ahem...... NATION-wide:confused::D Let's make it world wide, I know there are alot of people around here not from the United States!

Ya see. I knew there were good reasons to post that letter to Joe, rather than write a private message. Lots of good ideas out there. WORLD wide. I like that.

So you get tired of being considered another state of the USA too hey?:D

I'm not so sure about that. I can think of many rides around here that are anywhere from 20 to 100 miles long - all of which I consider events, but not tours.

"Event Rides - Shedules and Info" under Announcements and events. That works. But e need to get something going. Seagull Century (7000 riders) just posted reg info.

Joe,
I thought this is what the calendar was for. And there's plenty of space to list any details.
Don't the members check the calendar periodically? I've posted a few Georgia rides in the calendar.

Me too, I think the bike rides forum will be best used by linking a calendar event to a big ride thread for discussion on the event.
I think i'll add a sticky note in the bike ride forum, so users know what to include in there post, and make sure it gets into the calendar as well.
