Does Petacchi even have a chance of snatching the maglia ciclamino from Bettini? He's going to need more than just a stage win here. Can he win this stage in particular or even scoop up points on the course?

Its sad that Rujano is probably going to loose like 5 min on this stage.

My guess is that neither Simoni and Rujano will lose much more than 1.5 minutes to Savoldelli today (unless Rujano's mechanic botches his bike again).

I don't think Petacchi has any chance at all to get points today, with the Intergiro coming after the climb. I can't remember him placing high in any TT?

Oh, I dunno about that. He scored a third on the Tour de Langkawi's 20k board-flat ITT this winter. So the guy can obviously TT. With the climb in the middle, he should do well. Sean Kelly and whoever that dufus announcer is on Eurosport were speculating that he didn't really go for it in the first Giro TT as he didn't expect to be an overall contender.

I noticed that Dave Zabriskie was wearing his National Champion's jersey today. ANyone know why he just wore his normal CSC kit for the first TT?

Go to Eurosport.com for the commentary in English.

Go to:

http://www.gazzetta.it/Speciali/Giroditalia/2005/diretta/index.shtml

for Video and Italian commentary.

'Course if you get OLN the last two stages are on tomorrow and Sunday.

If you are willing to pay 6 bucks to watch today's stage alone you could now go back and get the archived video stream from OLN and go to Eurosport for the "re-live" stream. Might be a trick to get them synched up though. You could also do all the stages in replay that way.......

16 Jose' Rujano Guillen (Ven) Selle Italia-Colombia 1.59

Yes, and only 1.36 after Savoldelli :). And Simoni only lost 1.11...

Bettini got 9th and 7 points, no Ciclamino for Petacchi.

How about that Vladimir Karpets... I've been keeping my eye on him throughout this Giro, and I think he can definitely improve on last year's TdF performance (not that it was bad - he took the white jersey!). I think a top five finish is definitely not out of his reach in France.

Zabrinske didn't have a US skinsuit for the first tt and the UCI officials got upset with the team, so his sponsor made him US skinsuit. Pretty cool
