Bicycle Mechanics - suntour cranks with shimano bb?

hey everybody - i just got a new pair of suntour superbe pro track cranks...i'm having a real hard time finding a suntour bb. does anybody know if these would be compatible with a shimano or campy bottom bracket? i'm not sure if the tapers are interchangeable....

It'll work with Shimano but not Campy because the tapers are a little different. Make sure that the BB width and the spindle length are the right size.

If they aren't new, who knows what they might have been used with. If they were originally iso and were used with a jis taper spindle,then you have to stick with jis. Try one arm on a jis spindle.If it's jis, it should go on more than 1/2 way just with hand pressure.

Most of the SunTour units I have dealt with are not compatible with the other S company's tapers. The newer generation stuff will work fine.

Just saw this. No worries on the Suntour getting married to a Shimano BB. I have a set of Superbe Pro Track Cranks marking time with a Shimano BB in my De Bernardi. Match made in heaven.
I just pulled a Suntour BB off a frame (it has Italian cups and one of the bearing cages is damaged though). Contact me via Private Message (or check my blog below for my email address) if you would like it.

AFWIW, both outfits made track cranks that used ISO taper, rather than JIS.Suntour even made road cranks with ISO taper.

I have had no problems - looseness, rounding, etc - they fit.

Totally unwarranted. Was this only said because someone isn't following your plan on matching BBs to Cranks? Is this a personal goal of yours in life - to ensure the proper mating of crank arms to bottokm brackets?
If you have documentation of this pairing NOT working, I am happy to learn from it. Otherwise, I am not sure what your point is. Two years - no problems.
