I'm always missing good movies and specials because I don't keep up with the TV schedule and don't watch much TV anyway.
Are there any good movies or specials coming up?

If you've got a fast connection, download "Black Books" or "Green Wing"... that's 13 hours of brilliance. I've got them both loaded in my torrent client for immediate access :)

Red Dragon.
On USA network (5/31 8pm CST) with Edward Norton and Anthony Hopkins. The first in the so-called "Hannibal Lector" trilogy.
Worth watching?

The ONLY good thing on television is that hula-girl lamp with the clock in her stomach.
Read a book instead. Just a couple threads ago I was recommending Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance. I read that back in the—oh lord—the 70s. It's not about motorcycle maintenance, except in the most zen way possible, but a very insightful thing altogether.
Please stay with me through this slightly laboured analogy:
Reading = cycling. TV = SUV. The world would be a better place if more people did it, It's environmentally friendly. It's socially responsible. It'll make you more fit. You'll waste less time in gridlock/reality shows.
Reading makes you smarter as cycling makes you stronger. TV makes you dumb, apathetic, materialistic zombies.
To paraphrase Mark Twain (a writer), "The man who will not read is no better off than the man who cannot read.

Everything in moderation, my friend.
I read nightly.
Now, is Red Dragon worth watching?

Tried to find the Eagles, but couldn't. :(
The Grateful Dead Movie (1977) is on Alabama Public TV tonight at 9:30 CST. I'm not sure if it's nationwide on PBS or not, sorry. I have this on beta tape somewhere, but I haven't had a beta machine to watch it on in many, many years.
Too bad, they were great. But don't fret, it'll be out on DVD or CD soon.

And wasn't THAT a crashing disappointment. Holy woof, what a bore. Everywhere I look, it's nothing but focus groups and their bland findings. Wasn't there poetry in writing once?

Really, I enjoyed it. Sure, no suprises, and theres about 20 I didn't agree with. They forgot some of the new classics. Breakfast Club, Princess Bride, Monty Python and more Mel Brooks.
But the top 10 I pretty much expected.

As lame as it is to quote oneself, the more I look at this, the more I want to change my name to Bland Findings.
And run for political office!
I trust that I can count on your support.
Back on topic. TV is 99% lousy. And that's just me being generous. Does America have the Weather Network? No reruns…
I wish I saw it your way, then I would be able to shut the dam thing off.
Its sad but true, my TV is on nearly 12 hours a day when I'm not working, 6 hours a day when I am. :o
A good show I'm slowly getting hooked on is a sad show on Bravo called something like "Sports Moms and Dads" about overzealous parents pushing their kids into sports they failed at when they were growing up. You can see the crazy looks in their eyes when they say stuff like "we won the game today" or "we did terrible with that routine", or when they say that their kid's goal is to be professional sports folks, and the kids are like 8. :( Now that's child abuse...

All this week on Fitness TV, a very obscure channel on satellite, they're running a show called Chasing Lance. I only picked up on it while surfing for something with some authenticity, anyway it was really good, they interspersed segments about Lances training with Hincapie's prepping for Paris-Roubaix, and some takes with the head mechanic and Bruyneel the discovery team director. Last part of show waas about Hincapies try for the spring classic. A CLASSIC moment came when the Discovery support car, driven by Yates, with all occupants in full Team Discovery kit, with full GPS system and screen, is reduced to watching the race from their tiny TV in the car when they get lost trying for shortcuts thru the French countryside. Oh, the irony of it all!
It was on at 8:00 P.M. pacific time, forgot what the focus will be on tomorrow's show, but I was pleasantly surprised.

Saturday July 9, MTV and VH1 plan a "do-over" of the Live 8 concerts. I would have like to see the Pink Floyd reunion, but got bored and flipped away last week. This might be another chance.
