Mountain Biking - Egg Beaters

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I just a set of Crank Brothers Egg Beaters yesterday and tried them out. Anyone else ever use them?

I won a pair - I'm planning on trying them out this weekend!
How do you like them?
I'm a faithful frog rider.....

I've had mine for a couple of months. They're great unless you need to get out really quick and don't have the wherewithall to pull your feel out in the right direction - something I had to get used to after riding loose spds for two years. I've done a couple of supermans with the bike  which is not fun. But otherwise, they're great - very easy to get into once you get used to them - and they have a great feel.
I have never used them, but MtnBikerChk has a pair that I plan on stealing once she gets sick of them. :D

2 pair - one pair on my MTB, one pair on road bike. I have about 1,500 miles combined this year with Egg Beaters.
Pros - light, cheaper than TIME or Shimano, best mud-shedding possible, 4-sided entry, secure, durable.
Cons - not adjustable.
Simply an amazing pedal.

I've been an SPD user for the past 10-11 years, and I am very impressed with the Eggbeaters. This is why I started this thread.:D

I just saw some for the first time the other day - I haven't ridden for quite a while, and even then it was only fire trails...:(
They look very interesting, but I am a little suspicious (although my experience extends to SPD's only) about the ease of location for novice riders, such as myself. Clipping back in after getting/falling off is always awkward for the less experienced, and I think I would stay with my, albeit heavy, platform SPD's for now. If I become really hardcore, and lose like maybe 3 stone in weight (I am a spectacular 15st/96kg) :D I may go for some...

I think when my Times pack up, I'll go for a pair :)
They look excellent for mud sheding
I have had my Eggbeaters for about 3 months now, got them because my stock 515's were a death-trap. I really can't find any flaw. The release is smooth and consistant, predictable always.
I have had to pedal uphills with 1 foot in before, and I found that I had plenty of platform to ride up the hill.
