Hi all, great form.........I need some help with an old Centurion Expert Ironman-Dave Scott..... I bought this bike back in the mid 80's. I loved the bike then but I have not road it for years. I am not in an area where I can get any help with the repair, 200 miles to the nearest bike shop. What I want to do is to turn it into a cylcocross bike. I think new tires, peddles, cables and saddle. I will be on pavement 99% of the time and I love the speed I got out of this bike. So what I need is recommendations !
or should I buy a new bike? Thanks

Wow, weird that you should ask that question, I have the exact same bike, and had the exact same question that I came here to ask. BUMP!

FWIW.....Here's what I did with my old bike (old road bike) to convert it.......
changed the tires to Club Roost cross tires......changed the bars.....changed to brake
levers to MTB .....changed the downtube shifters to thumbies....changed the seat to a
broken in brooks .......did general overall maintance.......and rode the heck out
of it.........cheap(!!!!) as most of the stuff (not the tires) came off e-bay.

Great, now I just need to figure out how to make all the parts fit? The thumbies would be great. What about 32's on the back and 25's on the front?
