how about on Mountain bikes? Is there a difference between the two?

If you have the ~$100, go for it. I dont know if i need that many gadgits on my mtn bike. I keep it simple with a $15 Mity 3. Do you really need cadence, a stop watch and lap counter on a mtn bike computer? I dont.

Hmmm, as far as I know, the Flightdeck works as an integrated part of the STI brake/shifters that are specific to drop bars and road bikes. However, I'm certainly not an expert on this subject.

Shimano came out with a XT / XTR (Mtn Bike) flight deck about three years ago.

I don't have any experience with flight deck, but i'm in the process of evaluating new brakes/levers/shifters (SD7 vs LX or XT). I did some reading on the shimano website (its a crappy website IMHO).

Shimano -> flight deck -> compatability chart indicates that they have MTB flight deck components.

lol. I don't have the money but my husband is getting a new bike and my cousin wants to buy him the computer for it. I'm sure she'll get it for less than $15.

Yeah, I saw their site too.

If you can get it cheap, then go for it! But we want a full review :)

I got my Flight Deck about 4 years ago and would have trouble giving it up now. When I first saw them on another guy's bike I thought it was technology overkill (I suppose it is in a way) but...

It is really nice to have the numbers large in front of you.

It is nice to just glance down when you are tired and quickly see what gear you are in. The brain doesn't always do calculations well when fogged with fatique.

It is easy to set up once you figure out the bible-sized users manual written by a non-English speaker.

The wireless ones that they now make are nicer than mine.

Only complaint I have is since mine is an older model, the buttons on the STI shifters are close together on the right brake handle. Sometiimes I shut the timer off when I grip the handle when climbing a hill. duh! That effects all of the mileage counts and I often don't know how far I've ridden on a long ride. I take a lot of teasing about that from my buddies.

Overall I'd say go for it if someone else is buying;)
