Yay me. :) 22.5 miles, 10 laps of a twisty course through the streets of quaint Beaver, PA. Corners are tougher than they look! I didn't have a clue how to choose a line through the ~12 90 degree turns and chicanes. I kept gapping off of the pack and working way harder than I had to, and despite the wonderful advice in the climbing thread, I still didn't handle the short (100yd?) uphill stretch well at all. But in the end, I didn't stay dropped, and I finished about 20 seconds back in 8th place. (About half the field dropped out or was lapped, so I felt good about just sticking it out!)
Oh, and I am still riding my 23 lb bike. :p I'll attach a photo of me, head down and hammering against the wind, you notice that there are no...other...riders in the frame -- yeah, that was the recurring theme. Every time I came past my DH I heard, "Get up there! Get in the draft!"
Aw, heck, I'll put another, of me approaching a corner (with a terrible line! I'm only a few feet away from the turn!)...
