Introductions - Introducing myself to bike forum
Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I am a 78 year old bicyclist named Dale and my wife, Kay is an 81 year old bicyclist. We started bicycling with 3 speed Raleighs in a Philadelphia club 55 years ago. Very few people bicycled in the 1950's; in Philadelphia there was the American Youth Hostels and one cycling touring club with about 20 active riders. There was also a racing club which we don't know much about. We now live in New Hampshire and I ride about 5000 miles a year and my wife rides about 1500; but she got a new knee this year and may increase her mileage. We rode together before getting married, after getting married and after having children who rode in the primitive child seats of 50 years ago (parents putting children in those seats now would probably go to jail for mistreating children), then on the back of a tandem and later on small bicycles. We continued cycling through our working years on vacations and weekends and into retirement.

A warm welcome to the forum. What a wonderful story you two share! Great picture, if it wasn't for the helmets and the newer bikes, I would have thought it was taken during your honeymoon :D .
