General Cycling Discussion - older bike

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
hello,
I'm trying to find out where I can get parts for an older Royce Union, I got it about 1972. 27" 10speed. The paperwork and guarantee come from Brooklyn NY, and the bike was built in Japan.

Loose screws another possibility. If I recall correctly, Japan changed their metric standards about that time, and you may need to see which sort of screws, fasteners, etc. will work.
LBS usually have a stock of old parts as well.

Check established bike shops that have been in busniess for quite a few years. They may have old parts in a storeroom or old bikes to get parts off of.
It's not hardware that concerns me, that is all there. What I need to find are shifters, cables, etc., parts that are more unique to this brand. Is Royce Union still in business? I would like to try the "lifetime guarantee"!!

I doubt anything on a Royce Union was unique to the brand.

Right. I still see Royce Union bikes at the university, invariably cheapies, though a cut above the Magnas and Huffys. Strictly off-the-shelf bits from major makers. If you can't find exact replacements for shifters and such, there are plenty of alternatives.
You can get a set of 7-speed gripshifters for a little over 20 bucks.
