Hello,

I am a new member. I have decided to take my bike ridding to the next level and thought that this would be a good place to start learning about training, bike maintenance ect... I live in Newark, Delaware. My primary interest is road biking, I have ridden mountian bikes in the past, and would like to get another mountian bike in the future. I am currently riding about 100 miles per week, give or take, depending on time ect... I am 33 yrs. old. I have a Specialized Allez, it started out as a 1994 model, but last summer the frame broke. The frame was replaced under warranty so now I have a new 2004 frame (with carbon fiber fork and seat post) with my origional cranks and other hard ware. I look forward to learning from you all. Thanks,

Chad

Wow... that's cool. The whole frame got replaced after 11 years? What kind of warranty did you get on that bike?

BTW, welcome to the forums!

Hello Koffee Brown,

I like your name. The bike came with a life time warranty on the frame for the origional purchaser of the bike, which was me. The warranty stated that Specalized would replace a broken frame resulting from faulty material/construction. I took it to my local bike shop (Wooden Wheels),& they did all the warranty paper work, it was also the same shop that I purchased the bike from. It took about a month for the new frame to arrive. I had to purchase some things that would not convert over from the old bike,(handelbars, cables), plus I upgraded the shifters and put a new bottom bracket on it. Needless to say, I am very happy with Specalized and their warranty policy. However the breakage was very strange and the guy at the shop said that the 94 & 95 models had many problems.

I like their warranty practices also. Had a small problem with a noisy freehub. Result: New wheel.

You might want to check out a local club in your area, the White Clay Bike Club, http://www.whiteclaybicycleclub.org/, which besiides its regular rides each week, puts on a number of pretty nice "event rides" throughout the season.

Thanks for the info. I'll keep that in mind with my Specialized bike!
