Road Cycling - what do you think of cannondale road bikes?

alright so i know cannondale makes great mountain bikes but what about their road bikes? i'm not just talking about their expensive ones but in general. for another bike with the same components as a cannondale's, the cannondale's seem pricy. is it quality or hype?

There are several sitting in the LBS in the same building as my company offices.

They are beautiful. They are expensive. They are worth it. So far, I only allow myself to gaze at them longingly. But then, I also gaze longingly at Specialized, Trek, Raleigh and a few others.

I resist the often-offered test ride.

Planning to stay on my Giant Sedona DX for now. But look out AMEX! I'm not going to allow my balance to fall too low before I add a road bike.

I just bought a Cannondale R400 and love it. I tried out Trek, Specalized, and a couple of others and just liked it the best. I can't really say if it was over priced for what I got. I just know it felt perfect when I got on it.

Gee, for what you get, they seem like a pretty good deal to me!

My first road bike was a Cannondale that I bought in 1990. It was the best value available at the time, light (but stiff!) frame. Good enough for upgrading the componenents twice. I bought a Trek 2200 this year which has better components and a more comfortable ride. But I intend to keep and ride the Cannondale. I have too many thousands of miles on it to give it up. So, if you like the Cannondale, go for it. The only down side is an unforgiving ride on rougher roads. However, I believe that the current frames offer a bit of a softer ride without compromising the responsiveness.

They are more expensive because they are handmade in the USA. The frames are perfectly aligned and ride beautifully. They have a great reputation because it was the bike Cipollini rode to many victories. They sponsor Saeco's Div 1 road team.

I don't know about the lower end frames but the CAAD5,6,7 are about the best racing bikes you can buy. It all goes sideways from there!

I ride a Canny r4000si, my wife a Canny r2000si. We came from steel bikes, therefore we thought al would be harsh. We found that both our bikes were really comfortable, light and fast. We absolutely would recommend Cannondale.
