Put your foot down and then put it back on.

try them on banks first then or walls or quarters....also try to "hop" back on instead of just putting your foot on.

ok. i found it really easy to learn footplant on a small quarter. go medium speed aprouching the quarter strait on. shoot the bike out from under you and put your foot down. it helps if your tip of the foot is facing the ground.then when the bike stars coming down hop w/ your foot and jump back on the bike.

The first thing to learn how to do is step your bike off of stuff. Just a 8" curb will do. Learn how to stand on what foot and hold your bike out to your side, then push off/jump off the curb and ride away. Learn to lock the foot that isn't on the ground onto your pedal. Once you can do that, then you can start taking it higher and working on bunnyhopping and taking a foot off and putting it down and going into walls and things like that.
It was a long time ago for me, but I distinctly remember my bike going all over the place when I tried it and needing to learn how to lock my foot in place on the frame and getting control of my bike. Then the trick got a lot easier and more fun.
