I know Brooks Saddles are often used by racers, roadies, and trekkers, but how often do Mountain Bike Riders use Brooks Saddles?

I know Brooks Saddles are often used by racers, roadies, and trekkers, but how often do Mountain Bike Riders use Brooks Saddles?
I have a B17 narrow on my FSR but then I kinda weird anyway. Broke it in on my touring bike and got another one for that bike. I tried a Professional on my hardtail but I didn't like it much. Too wide. I might try it again with a B17N.

I wouldn't run a Brooks off road. Too many ways for it to get wrecked. I would use it on a ex-MYB turned commuter

I've got a B17 on my Stumpjumper. Now only used as an on road bike. You'd ruin one if used on a rough/muddy trail (crashes, tree branches, puddles, streams, etc....).

Depends on your location. Here in the arid west, we don't have that much of a problem with water. In the 20+ years I've mountain biked, I've only had to ride in the rain a few times. Carry a plastic bag or get a Brooks cover for those few times you are going to run across a rain storm.
An a general note, we westerners should probably apply Proofhide more often to our Brooks' then people in less moisture challenged states do. Our humidity and altitude take a toll on the leather.

Of the four bikes I ride regularly only the mountain bike doesn't have a Brooks. My mountain bike seat has some padding, a plastic base, and is covered in soft leather. I like the padding on the MTB as I occasionally contact the seat in ways I wasn't designed for. Also, while mountain biking I'm always moving around so the seat is very comfortable. If I ride it on the road I'm numb within 10 miles.
