General Cycling Discussion - Where to donate spare bike parts?

Any suggestions on where to donate spare bike parts to a charity or good cause? Like most cyclist, I upgrade to a new saddle/fork/, etc. and have good, mostly unused parts laying around. Ebay or classifieds is too much hassle. Just like to drop it off and leave. Called up local church/goodwill, they like accepting entire bikes but individual components are different matter. Thanks.

I'd look for a bike coop in your area, and/or call bike shops and ask - I know of several in my area who run programs teaching kids to rehab bikes that always need bits for those programs. If you can't find local and are willing to ship, drop me a PM and I can put you in touch with some, but I don't know your area ;)

You might look for a local Cycling Merit Badge counselor with the Boy Scouts of America. I teach the merit badge and I am seemingly always repairing every kid's bike. Its just one good place to dump the parts among many equally worthy recipients. Please come back and tell us where you decided to get rid of them. :)

Any bike shop would take decent parts as donations.

A bike coop or some charity that specializes in fixing up old beaters for kids would be the best bet.
