Introductions - Hola from chilly Bogotá, Colombia

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Hey guys,

First of all, great forums, just what I was looking for. During my early years I used to be a BMX champ until I found girls more attractive than trophies... years later during my law school I decided to do some mountain biking and nowadays I commute to work every day and still do some mountain biking every now and then near Bogota which has several natural parks.

Tengo una bicicleta GT muy vieja (1990) que solía ser mountain bike pero la adapté para city bike.

My mother adopted kids from Columbiaa while back. Would be nice to tour all the natural wonders in South America some day.

Here we have some great trails near Bogota, nice mountains to climb to, great people and almost 200 miles of cycle paths.

Ricardo, I came back to this thread to humbly beg for the name of a street where I used to see people biking all the time, and then it came to me! The street is La Calera, isn't it? And the discotecas are up there too?

this is the OTRO Ricardo...
I left Bogota about 10 years ago, so i don't really know of any current developments, but one thing i can tell you is "La calera" was far better with Out the Disco's and all the "Paraderos"

I skate and landluge down that hill a thousend times when i was younger and then I climp that mountain (6,8 kilometers and about 550 meters altitude change)(Bogota is already a 2650meters above sea level) at least 4/5 times per week for about 12 years on my way to many of the Incredible single tracks and even bigger highs at the top of the city...

Alison Do you remenber Monserate....??
the mountin with the church on top but with out a road to get to it, )so you can only use the teleferic gondola, lift), we climp to it from the back of the mountain and when down the endless amount of stairs,,yeah no suspension, no disc brake,,hell ones we did it on my ibis tandem, but the stairs prove to be a little to much and we walk about 2000 steps downwards...
