Mountain Biking - Gloves

I NEED GOOD GLOVES!!! I just went on a 25 mile ride and my old AXO gloves arn't cutting it, in fact they got all cut up and I have blisters on my hands. I searched but couldn't find anything definitive.

I want the best, most comfortable gloves! What are they? I'd prefer cut-offs because California is hot :)

Florida is just as hot, and I wear full-fingered year round. Find a pair of Fox Sidewinders.

It ain't hot here. Once in a while it might hit 110f but that's not bad :D Now FL sucks 'cause they may hit 90f but at 100% humidity it can be a biyatch ;)

Just check out what you lbs has in stock. I prefer full finger dh gloves even when riding xc. If you like your AXO's then try and find the same style. If you want more padding in the palm then take a look at some roadie gloves. They tend to have more padding to help with vibration (depending on modle).

As for the best, that will depend on which you like the feel of the best. I have found some 10$ gloves that were very comfortable and lasted a while and i have also worn 90$ gloves (my current ones) and they too are very comfortable but have a hell-of-a lot more protection.

My preference is the Specialized Body Geometry pro gloves. I use them on both road and mountain. I have went through about 4 pairs of them now.

Whatever happened to Axo anyway?? I love their stuff. Anyway, I replaced my Axo Cabria gloves with some called Sette available at Price Point, although I hate to recommend buying from anyone other that your LBS. The fit is similar to Axo and they have knuckle pads and fingertip pads similar to the Axo Cabria. Also short on the cuff so your arms wont feel like trey're covered up too high. $15 for the full finger. they make half finger or whatever too. I don't know if they're better than anyone elses but mine are comfortable and I've beaten them up bretty badly and use them road riding as well.

Performance gloves (http://www.performancebike.com/shop/profile.cfm?SKU=14889&subcategory_ID=1140) are well padded and well ventilated and cheap. Plus they give you cool dots on the back of your hand ;) They may look dorky compared to others but for people with hot hands, they're the best!

I'm not a fan of padded gloves, I feel that they are too big and get in the way. I suggest full finger gloves that don't have padding. I ride with the oakley mtb factory gloves, but honestly, they are too expensive for what they are for (thank goodness for b-day's). I would suggest a bmx type glove. It's full finger and tough as hell. As far as the blisters, they will turn into calusus(sp?) which will toughen your hands over time. IMHO.

I second that, get a pair of Sidewinders.

I have two pairs of gloves (oh get me). One pair Fox Static freerideish gloves with reinforcement in all the right areas and the other some Specialized mits from a few years back with padding for XC rides.

i use haro hevron gloves and i am real hard on gloves. i use em for bmx i dont know if that matters at all. they are good gloves i have had no prob with them yet and they see daily use.

I'm using a pair of full fingered 661's that I like alot.

I've found they can get a little hot when your deep in concentration on a technical section (not too any major extreme though), but as soon as your clear just turn the mesh into the breeze as your flying along and their great. :D

Its personal taste. None of my mates like wearing gloves yet I can't ride without them. I feel naked.

My hands always sweat when I don't wear gloves, then they slip on the grips.

I third or fourth (whatever its up to now) the fox sidewinders. I cant say enough about them, they have nice padding and have saved my skin in many falls.

Best gloves I've used hands down are Specialized BG Sports. They are cheap, and for me have lasted forever (going on 2 years I believe) and that is riding road, mountain, urban, a trip to Australia, commuting, and about 300 washes. The thing I like about the Sport model is its the cheapest, and has the biggest sweat patch on it of the entire line of Specialized gloves. Full fingers for me don't come out until its 40 or below.

i might not wear the full finger gloves this summer. I will have to see how it gets, if my hands feel like they are boiling then im buying half finger or whatever they are called. But today it hit 80 and i was out riding after school, my hands felt fine

AXO is now SixSixOne for cycling related gear. They still make AXO MX gear though.

The build quality (so to speak) is excellent.

My Fox Digits are great. They are non-padded, so I still maintain a really good sense of touch. Enough at least to tie my shoes or get into my wedgepack without taking them off. I've also noticed less hand fatigue on long rides while wearing them.

I think the fingerless equivalent from Fox is either the Mesas or the Mojaves.
